Wow oh wow what a marvellous experience. Firstly we met Robert who so knowledgeable, friendly and funny. So we started our journey through time with a smile on our faces. It for us was a walk down memory lane. We saw items that related to many members of our Families some we had forgotten. We thought for younger generations there was so much to see. We would recommend without hesitation this experience. It was rounded off by a lovely coffee and scone from the on site cafe. The lady and young man were very welcoming and friendly. We will certainly revisit as exhibitions change.
When my partner and I are in the area we always seem to stop off here for a quick coffee or small lunch. Home baking is beautiful and varied choices. Friendly staff and efficient service.Museum has a good name for itself, but ive yet to visit museum
Quaint and interesting historical museum which is week laid out on several floors of an old mill. (Access to upper floors is by stairs only)Has exhibits of period, clothing tools and appliances as well as two setups of a room with mannequins. There is an attached cafe serving meals and snacks and grounds above allow for a pleasant riverside walk. The waterwheel is operational and there is an interesting note in the museum about the difficulties need in obtaining the wood necessary to refurbish the paddles.A good few hours entertainment and education at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
A very interesting museum and water mill. The costume exhibition is excellent though could do with more space. Lots of artefacts from rural Ayrshire on display and a chance to see a water mill in action, if you are lucky. The cafe is small but offers a good selection of food. For visitors with mobility problems, there is a film of the upstairs exhibits.
Excellent coffee shop tucked away down a small road before Dalgarven House hotel. Home baking and home made soup to die for! Beautiful setting with a museum of costumes attached! Well worth visiting!! Saks and Hart shop opposite sells quirky unusual competitively priced gift ideas for the home and for birthdays weddings and other special occasions!! The jewellery is very affordable and showcases Scottish jewellery makers! A little bijou place to visit and to take visitors!
